Internal affairs of our company are handled by a staff
of twelve people, with an additional fourteen people working in our
Terre Haute warehouse. Outside sales functions are handled by seven
thoroughly trained sales representatives and are well supported by an
inside sales staff of seven people. The ongoing success of Industrial
Supply Company is in no small measure due to the years of education and
practical experience of its personnel, who have brought to our business
a thorough
knowledge of the needs of industry. For decades, Industrial Supply has enjoyed a very good reputation for business integrity, dependability, and product quality. Few people stop to realize how advantageous a supply house is to the community in which it is located. If there were no supply houses then plants, mines, contractors, and other establishments would be forced to carry immense inventories. The aggregate investment in this stock would be a great economic waste, to say nothing of the loss of time incurred by industry awaiting the arrival of some small article from the manufacturer. Contrary to views occasionally expressed, many large manufacturers find that the most economical method of distribution for them is through centrally located supply houses. |
| Why is this? Usually a manufacturer only produces one product line. To
successfully distribute the product directly to factories and dealers,
the manufacturer must bear the entire cost of such distribution. In
addition, most factories are organized on a production basis and cannot
economically produce and ship small quantities. To do so would
exceedingly increase the cost of production. Industrial Supply Company serves many important local industrial plants, including manufacturers of aircraft component parts, transformers, glass containers, plastics, and pharmaceuticals. The organization also supplies municipal utilities, mining operations, mechanical and residential contractors, hospitals, school corporations, universities, plumbers, military bases, and machine shops throughout the Midwest. People who are unfamiliar with our operations are pleasantly surprised when visiting Industrial Supply's warehouses and viewing the large quantity of industrial and construction products carried. In addition, contractors will find here innumerable items with which to ply their trade; it is hard to think of anything in the line of craftsmen's tools and equipment that Industrial Supply does not offer. Truckload quantities of black and galvanized pipe, valves, and pipe fittings convince our visitors of our ability to deliver "Industrial" service. In addition, a plumbing showroom is maintained at our Terre Haute offices. A company-owned fleet of trucks insures a fast and efficient free delivery service for both the Terre Haute area and a seventy mile radius outside of the city. Excellent commercial freight line services, such as United Parcel Service, are available to those areas where company delivery is impractical. Industrial Supply management actively participates in many national and local trade organizations. The company also actively supports local business, civic, and charitable organizations. In addition, Industrial Supply Company participates in a co-op program with Indiana State University that allows business and technology students the opportunity to gain work related experience in the computer field prior to graduation. |
